Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just feel like a quiet trip through the woods, the Ještěd area offers hiking trails for everyone.
Here are five recommended hiking trails that you can easily discover from Camping 2000:
1. Ještěd trail: The crown jewel of northern Bohemia.
Distance: 10 km (there and back)
Difficulty: medium difficulty
The walk to the summit of Ještěd is without a doubt one of the most popular routes in the region. On top of the mountain you will find the Ještěd Tower, in which there is a hotel and restaurant, and from where you have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, including the Giant Mountains and the Bohemian Paradise.
You can start the trail in the village of Horní Hanychov, where you can take the cable car or start right away on foot. The first part of the trail takes you through dense forests, alternating between shady paths and open stretches with magnificent views. As you get higher, the trail gets steeper, but the reward at the top is absolutely worth it. After a break at the summit restaurant, you can take the same way back or descend by a different route.
Tip: For extra adventure, combine the trail with a descent to Pláně pod Ještědem, where quiet hiking trails through fields and forests await you.
2. The Černá Studnice trail: A tour along rock formations
Distance: 15 km (round trip)
Difficulty: Medium difficulty
Are you curious about the region’s impressive rock formations? Then the hiking trail to Černá Studnice is for you. This trail starts at Ještěd and takes you through dense forests, past spectacular rock formations, caves and gorges.
The trails are well marked and you will pass beautiful viewpoints along the way where you can enjoy the Jizera Mountains. The hike is medium-difficult, with some challenging sections on rocky terrain.
Tip: Along the way, visit the historic Černá Studnice tower. For a small fee, you can climb the tower and enjoy stunning views.
3. The Bohemian Paradise trail: discovering castles and gorges
Distance: 12 km
Difficulty: Medium
A short distance from the campsite is the famous Bohemian Paradise, one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Czech Republic. Here you can take a fantastic hike through an area rich in castles, forests and impressive rock formations. The route starts in the village of Hrubá Skála and takes you past some of the most iconic places in the area.
Along the way, you will pass the imposing Trosky Castle, perched atop two volcanic pillars. Furthermore, the trail takes you through the picturesque Prachovské Skály, a maze of sandstone pillars that are up to 40 meters high.

4. The Crystalline Nisy route: Quiet walk along the river
Distance: 8 km (there and back)
